Ken Harris Art Workshop
Last weekend I went to an art workshop held by Ken harris. ken has a show on briz 31 (local channel) he does great landscapes and he's a lovely old fella! I learnt heaps - techniques, styles, using different tools.. and my confidence has grown in leaps and bounds!
This is the first picture we did. I really enjoyed the weekend. They had really cheap frames there so we could frame our artwork, and I'm so glad I did! This workshop has really rejuvenated my love for painting.
We did five paintings over the two days and I am proudest of my last piece. I am now on the lookout for a new scene to paint :)

my 26th year
The Christmas break seems so long ago now! It was great to have a few weeks off :) even better to be able to read novels, not think about work and genuinely relax!
I had a fabulous birthday :) I got a thermos, a frangipani tree (plumeria rubra), some Terry Pratchett books, some craft cardboard, tickets to Dreamworld (woohoo! I can't wait!) and some more red kitchen accessories (oh, plus the summerfieldayze ticket from my dad).
My boss bought me some chocolates and we had a lovely morning tea! I don't feel any different being 26 but I am conscious of the fact that Jon turns 30 in April (and I keep reminding him too!)
Overall I couldn't have asked for a better start to the year!
This is the year that we plan on painting and raising our house. We will have to move out for a month or so while they raise the place, but Lex and I will shift back in with mum, and Jon is gonna borrow a friends caravan to live in the backyard!

Oh, i nearly forgot.. here's a picture of us going to last years Awards night - me in blue, lex in blue/pink and Jon looking smashing in his suit! (Notice our new paved area & shade sail in the back yard - pretty cool huh?!)

My aim for the weekend was to complete an essay.. with much hard work and coffee I got it done! Woohoo! Three more essays to go and 6 weeks to do them! I got myself into a real pickle with these subjects this semsester.. Next time, I'll check the assessment to make sure this overload doesnt happen!
I no longer have xanga premium which means I can only have 10 people on my protected list.. The choice I have to make here is (a) limit my current subs into an elite 10 (bloody hard to do).. or (b) use public posts.
I don't post all that often anymore and I feel less paranoid about who reads my site (I'm sure there are still ferals flaoting around, but we need to move on right?!) so perhaps i am ready for some public posts..

Time is precious
I am stuck at work tonight while a colleague of mine presents a course on "Time Management"
set yourself goals

Achieve your goals and move on to the next one!So what am I doing while this course is being presented? I am procrastinating.. I am giving in to time wasters and distractions and not doing my essay. I promised myself I would not leave assignments to the last minute this year, and so far I ahve done very well. I am on track with everything except this one essay - mainly because the essay question is uninviting and a real "head-scratcher" that I can't get my teeth into!
Anyway, it has been a lot longer than I ever thought it would be. I never thought I could be away from Xanga for longer than a few days. Time is precious, home renovations and assignments seem to take priority lately.. I hope all my friends here on Xanga are happy and healthy.. I think of you often and fondly :)

Game II: State of Origin 2006

Tonight is a must win game for the Maroons to save the series and I'm sure the Queenslander's know what is at stake if they lose.
New South Wales has won 3 series' in a row.. could 2006 be their 4th?

It has also been a year since Rick's grandfather died. I hope the hurt and sadness you were feeling over his loss has faded somewhat Rick!GO THE BLUES!
Of course, I forget that the Yanks play a totally differnet type of football.. State of Origin is Rugby League, it a series of representative games where the best players are chosen to play and represent their States! .. for more info see nrl.com.au or my prev post some weeks ago
